The Star AG (own spelling STAR ), headquartered in Ramsen SH is a Swiss group based on technical documentation and software development specializing in this area.

The company has 43 branches in 30 countries and employs around 800 people, including around 100 at the Swiss headquarters in Ramsen. Star has been privately owned since inception with no sales figures published. According to a report from the Tages-Anzeiger in 2007, according to unofficial sources, the company had sales of 105 million euros, making Star one of the 14 largest translation agencies in the world.

Company history

The company was founded in Stein am Rhein in 1984 as a provider of editing and translation services. The company consists of the first letters of S oftware, T ranslation, Artwork and Recording .

With the advent of the first personal computers in the mid-1980s and extensive translation and software localization projects , the company recognized the need for computer support for these services.

At that time, such a program was mainly intended to filter texts and translate sentences of the same name. This resulted in the "Transit" translation memory system, which forms the basis for the company's products in multilingual information management.

Products and services

The company offers solutions for the entire information process - from information creation and management, through translation to publication in numerous languages and media. IT services and training courses for the software products developed by the company are also offered.
