The Star Film , officially Manufacture de films pour cinématographes was that of Georges Méliès founded in 1897 very first film studio in France and a registered trademark. The seat of the greenhouse-like studio was Montreuil . In the first years of the 20th century in particular, the studio was a global leader and produced around 500 films. From 1912 onwards, as a result of Pathé's influence, it lost its independence and growing American competition hit the company hard from 1914 onwards. In 1923 the activities were stopped.
