history

The wooden Starhembergwarte (until 1895)

The control room was built in wood by the Krems-Stein Section of the Austrian Tourist Club, which was founded in 1881/82, and was officially opened on July 16, 1882. After the timber construction was already damaged ten years later, according to the plans of the Krems city architect Josef Utz jun. a stone building was erected and opened on August 15, 1895. After the First World War , the control room was maliciously damaged and neglected. The restoration could only take place in 1925. The control room was last subjected to a general renovation in 1987/88.
