Startin

The startin was an old measure of capacity for liquid and dry goods. It was mainly valid in Styria , especially when this region was still an independent duchy. It was used especially for wine and dried fruit.

  • 1 startin = 28.533 Parisian cubic inches = 10 bushels and 4 4/5 metzes
  • 1 start / starting = 10 Viennese buckets (in Graz) = 400 Maaß
  • 1 startin = 28,533 Parisian cubic inches = 9,756 Viennese pails = Bayer pails = 566 liters
