The Statfold Barn Railway is a park and museum railway near Tamworth in Staffordshire with three different gauges : 610 mm (2 feet ), 762 mm (2 feet 6 inches ) and 1,435 mm (standard gauge, 4 feet 8½ inches). It is privately owned by Graham Lee, the former CEO of LH Group Services Ltd, who bought the remains of the Hunslet Engine Company in 2005 . There is no public service on the track, but it can be visited at the Enthusiast Days , which take place several times a year .

Route

The approximately 2.4 km long Feldbahn ( Field Railway ) takes its output to a terminal station and moves to a dual gauge track with 610 mm and 762 mm track gauge, in a turning loop ends. At the Oak Tree Halt stop halfway there is a passing point and a turn-off to a storage hall in a former grain store with a turntable inside. At the starting point, there is another, as a garden railway '( Garden Railway ) designated circle of only 610 mm gauge around a pond, which is also the oldest part of the plant. The operational center is the locomotive shed and the workshop at the starting point, where the locomotives are serviced and overhauled and which is housed in a converted barn. The shed has a four-rail track for the three gauges that merges into a standard-gauge siding and then crosses the field railway, from where a short siding leads into a field.

Rolling stock

In March 2010 there were around 51 locomotives on the Statfold Barn Railway in varying degrees of preservation. Operational locomotives are repeatedly used as guest locomotives on other railways, e.g. B. the Jung - Mallet Jatibarang No. 9 in April 2011 on the Welsh Highland Railway . Several passenger and freight wagons enable a varied train formation on visiting days.
