Staufer round picture (detail)

The Staufer round picture is located in the chapter house of the Lorch monastery , with a length of 30 meters and 4.5 meters high, the largest painting on canvas in southwest Germany, depicting the rise and fall of the German and European rulers of the Staufer dynasty in the years 1102 to 1268 . The artist was Hans Kloss , who lived in Lorch .

The completion took place for the 900th anniversary of the monastery on May 3, 2002. The completion of the work of art is said to have taken four and a half years to complete. The work of art was partly financed by the fact that about 200 people from the region had themselves immortalized on the painting for a fee.
