Steam (band)
Steam was originally the trio Gary DeCarlo, Paul Leka and Dale Frashuer from Bridgeport , Connecticut . They recorded a single in 1969 called Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye on the A-side and It's The Magic In You Girl on the B-side. The three split up before the single was released.
Act
When the single was finally released and suddenly became a hit, Paul Leka hired six studio musicians to play the song at performances. Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye became an international hit, number 1 in the USA and a million seller. In Great Britain the title reached number 9 in the singles charts and in Germany number 5.
The song is still used today by American baseball clubs as a stadium anthem and is particularly associated with the Chicago White Sox .
After another, mediocre success with I've Gotta Make You Love Me , the sextet broke up again.
