Stefan Allgäuer

Stefan Allgäuer (born January 28, 1871 in Altenstadt - Gisingen (today Feldkirch-Gisingen); † September 29, 1934 there ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ) and teacher. He was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 1912 to 1914 and from 1918 to 1932 .

education and profession

Allgäuer attended the two-class elementary school in Gisingen from 1877 to 1885 and then worked in agriculture from 1885 to 1894. He graduated from the state trade school in Feldkirch from 1894 to 1898, passed the Matura in 1898 and obtained a teaching qualification for elementary schools on October 22, 1900. He was subsequently employed as a teacher in Nofels-Bangs from 1898 to 1901 and worked as a teacher in Gisingen from 1901. From 1908 to 1909 he took two courses in commercial drawing in Innsbruck and in 1909 switched to Altenstadt as a teacher, where he was employed until 1934. He was also head of the vocational training school from 1907 to 1909/1910.

Politics and functions

Allgäuer was a member of the Christian Social Party and was active as a party functionary at the community level. He belonged to the local council of Altenstadt and was after the incorporation in Feldkirch from 1925 to 1934 city councilor and financial advisor in Feldkirch. He also worked as the mayor of Gisingen. Allgäuer was sworn in to Franz Schreiber on September 30, 1912 as a member of the state parliament or representative of the rural communities for the constituency Feldkirch-Dornbirn and subsequently belonged to the state parliament without interruption until 1932, although the state parliament was no longer between 1914 and 1918 after the outbreak of the First World War was convened. He was sworn in on November 3, 1918 as a member of the provisional Vorarlberg state assembly and from 1919 was a member of the Feldkirch constituency of the regular state parliament. Allgäuer resigned from the state parliament on November 21, 1932. In addition to his work as a member of the state parliament, between June 17, 1919 and November 5, 1923, he also served as a substitute member of the state government for Engelbert Lugerinne .

Allgäuer was an honorary member of the Gisingen youth congregation as well as an honorary member of the Catholic teachers' association for Vorarlberg, the Gisingen fire brigade, the church choir and the Gisingen music association and the Gisingen gymnastics association. He was also chairman of the Vinzenzverein.

Private

Stefan Allgäuer was the son of the farmer Johann Stefan Gebhard Allgäuer (1811-1884) and his wife Sybille, née Büchel. Like him, his father was born in Gisingen, his mother in Ruggell ( Liechtenstein ). Stefan Allgäuer married Veronika Längle (1880–1912), also from Gisingen, on November 12, 1900 in Innsbruck and in 1902 had a daughter. After his early death, he married Maria Katharina Zündt (1886–1967), who was born in Rankweiler, on May 19, 1913, and between 1914 and 1924 he was the father of four sons and four daughters. Stefan Allgäuer's brother, Johann Friedrich Allgäuer (* 1871) was section head in the Federal Ministry of Justice.
