Stefan Jordi (born July 7, 1971 in Langenthal ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

Stefan Jordi grew up as the youngest of three siblings in Langenthal. From 1987 to 1992 he attended the teacher training college in Langenthal and then worked as a teacher at the secondary school in Zufikon . From 1995 to 2006, Jordi studied political science as well as law and media studies at the University of Bern . In 2003 he started working as a research assistant at the Federal Office of Energy in the Radioactive Waste Disposal section, where he currently works as head of the regional participation service in the sectoral plan procedure for deep geological repositories. Stefan Jordi is single and lives in Bern.

Jordi joined the Social Democratic Party in 1993. In 2003 he was elected to the city ​​council (legislature) of Bern , of which he was a member until 2016. From 2004 to 2012 he was a member of the Commission for Planning, Traffic and Urban Greenery, of which he was Vice President in 2009 and President in 2010. From 2009 to 2012 he was a member of the city council's finance delegation. In 2017, Stefan Jordi replaced the resigned Res Hofmann in the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern and was re-elected in the 2018 elections. He has been a member of the Social and Health Commission since 2017 and was elected Vice President of the Group in 2019.

Jordi was a board member from 1997, vice-president from 1999 and president of the SP Bern-Nord from 2000 to 2002. He has been a member of the party leadership of the SP City of Bern since 2005 and was its co-president from 2013 to 2018. From 2004 to 2010 Stefan Jordi was Co-President of the Urban Development Working Group of the SP City of Bern and from 2008 to 2010 President of the Mobility Conference Bern. From 2003 to 2012 he was a board member of the Pro Velo Bern association, of which he was president from 2005 to 2012. Since 2009, Jordi has been a board member of Fanarbeit Bern, an association that promotes fan work and fan culture around BSC Young Boys .
