Stefano Mancuso

Stefano Mancuso (born May 9, 1965 in Catanzaro) is an Italian biologist, professor of botany and author .

Life

Stefano Mancuso has been working as a professor (professore associato) at the University of Florence since 2001 and is a member of the Accademia dei Georgofili . Mancuso is a founding member of the "International Society for Plant Signaling & Behavior" and director of the "Laboratorio Internazionale di Neurobiologia Vegetale" (LINV, International Laboratory of Plant Neurobiology) founded in 2015. He conducts research in the field of plant neurobiology and creates scientific controversy with the popular scientific publication of his research results. The book The Intelligence of Plants was a science book of the year in Austria in 2016 . Among the notable botanists he portrayed George Washington Carver , Ephraim Wales Bull and Charles Harrison Blackley , as well as the naturalists Charles Darwin and Gregor Johann Mendel . In a film by Thierry Berrod broadcast by Phönix on March 27, 2020, Mancuso shows that vines exposed to classical music grew taller and faster and were less infested by insects.
