Stiff gauze

Steifgaze is a sieve-like-transparent gauze of cotton, linen werg - or jute yarn , the most by glue stiffens. It is woven from 13 to 15 threads per cm. Some of the gauze is still used in the clothing industry, for example for the production of old costume skirts from the 19th century and for stiffening hat brims and peaked caps. In addition, under certain conditions it can be used in medicine as a dressing material for partial restraint.

Tarlatan is a special form of rigid gauze .
