The stone circle of Drombohilly Upper ( Irish Drom Buachalla Uachtarach ) lies about 2.4 km northeast of Lauragh on the Beara Peninsula in County Kerry in Ireland . It crowns a hill and consists entirely of cone-like stones, as shown only in the "Canfea" stone circle, known under the name Ardgroom . The stone circle of Drombohilly, like that of Canfea, consisted of eleven stones, nine of which are still in the circle. It is a stone circle from the Cork-Kerry series .

Features of the Cork-Kerry series

The stone circles are arranged so that the so-called "axial or lying stone" is directly opposite two stones, which are usually the highest in the circle and mark the entrance ( Bohonagh stone circle ). It is typical, but not always, that the height of the stones in the circle is reduced in the direction of the axial stone. It is constantly in the southwest sector of the monument.

One of the missing stones from Drombohilly is the axial. The circle has a diameter of over 8.0 meters. A little to the east of the circle is a rectangular, grass-covered cairn that has something to do with the circle.

The Drombohilly Wedge Tomb is about 200 m south of the stone circle.

To the west of Lauragh are the Cashelkeelty stone circles .
