Kinniside Stone Circle

The Kinniside Stone Circle (also called Blakeley Raise Stone Circle) is a 1925 reconstructed stone circle south of Ennerdale Bridge and Kinniside in Cumbria , England .

The circle, dismantled in the 18th century by a farmer who used the stones as goal posts, was "restored" in 1925 by a Doctor Quine from Frizington, who set the stones in concrete. It is unclear whether he erected the stones in their original locations. It is unlikely that all stones belong to the original circle.

Kinniside Stone Circle is located east of the mountain road ( English fell from Old Norse. Fjäll ) that connects the Döfer Ennerdale Bridge and Calder Bridge. It is made of local granite stones with a cairn in the middle. The circle is about 15.0 meters in diameter and consists of 11 stones, the largest of which is about one meter high. It may have entrances to the south and northwest.
