The menhirs of the Appenthal stone row ( Alignements d'Appenthal ) are a prehistoric cultural monument .

Geographical location

The system is located in the Parc naturel régional des Ballons des Vosges , northwest of Guebwiller in the Haut-Rhin department in Alsace in France .

arrangement

The row of stones consists of 36 stones between 0.42 and 1.28 m high. It starts as a double row before continuing in a single row in a Y-shape. The facility was renovated in the 1990s.

Historical classification

Archaeological research was not carried out on the complex. The time and origin of the monument are therefore unknown. In the 19th century, the historian Charles Bourvart suspected that the row of stones dates from between 500 and 460 BC. BC.
