Row of stones by Saith Maen

The north-north-east-south-south-west oriented stone row of Saith Maen SE (English Alignement Saith Maen SE , also called Ystradgynlais ) is east of the road A4067 above Abercraft in the valley of the Tawe in Powys in south Wales on the slope of the 423 m high Cribarth ("Sleeping Giant ") With a view of" Craig y Nos Castle ".

Saith Maen is a rather rare in Wales stone row of seven (maybe eight once) stones, six from carbon - silicates , one from Old Red Sandstone of which are still five. The standing stones vary in height between 0.8 and 1.5 m. They are shorter than the lying ones, one of which is 2.9 m. The orientation points roughly in the direction of the stone circle of Cerrig Duon, 5.5 km away in the valley .

Nearby is the row of stones The Saith Maen NW.
