Steinsundøy , also called Steinsundøyna , is an island in the municipality of Solund in the province of Vestland in Norway. It has an area of 17.2 km² and is located in the archipelago at the north end of the Sognefjord . Apart from a few protected spots, the island is treeless. In 2001 only 55 people lived there. A road crosses the island. A bridge connects it to the east with the main island of Sula . In the west, another bridge and a ferry lead to the neighboring island of Rånøy and Ytre Sula in the west . The largest settlement is on the east side, opposite the village of Hardbakke on the island of Sula.

The strait between Steinsundøyna and the neighboring island of Rånøy to the west is called Steinsund . Although the Steinsund is less than 60 m wide at its narrowest point, it is navigable. For example, Hurtigruten ships pass this passage on their way to and from Bergen .
