The Stellar Crests (English for star peaks ) are four striking, snow-covered and up to 2000 m high mountains in the center of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . They rise up in the LeMay Range west of the northern part of Planet Heights .
The British geographer Derek Searle from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped them in 1960 using aerial photographs taken by the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1961 based on the naming of other geographical objects in the area, which bear the names of planets and their moons .
