The Stendal Housing Association is a municipal housing company based in Stendal . The company is owned by the city of Stendal. The main business area of SWG is the management of its own apartments.
Companies
Stendaler Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH - SWG for short - is the largest landlord in the Altmark with 4,023 apartments of its own . It rents, manages and sells apartments, commercial properties and land. The SWG offers a wide variety of apartment types throughout the city of Stendal. Most of the SWG houses have been extensively renovated in recent years and modernization will continue in the years to come. Extensive investments were made to adapt SWG's housing stock to the changed demand situation. Parallel to the renovation of apartments, residential buildings that no longer find market acceptance in the long term are being dismantled . A total of 2,883 apartments have been demolished in the past eleven years in the wake of demographic change. This enabled SWG to reduce its vacancy rate from originally over 30% to currently below 7%.
SWG has been managing the Uchtspringe property management company since 2012 .
In 2013, the last apartments were dismantled for the time being and investments worth around 7 million euros were carried out at the same time. The revitalization of the Tiergartenviertel with the first new building by SWG for over 20 years, the renovation of the Tiergarten high-rise and the addition of a new type of arcade project were SWG's largest construction projects between 2010 and 2015.
On November 1, 2016, the first groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the student residence on the campus of the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences in Stendal took place by SWG. The work was completed in September 2017.
Supraregional integration
The SWG is a member of the Association of the Saxony-Anhalt Housing Industry and the GdW - Federal Association of German Housing and Real Estate Companies. V. The managing director of SWG Daniel Jircik was chairman of the Association of the Housing Industry Saxony-Anhalt eV from 2015 to 2018 and has been a member of the housing industry advisory board of the Tele Columbus Group , led by Lutz Freitag , since 2016 .
