Steno-Cassette 30

The Steno-Cassette 30 is a cassette developed by Grundig for recording speech with dictation machines and answering machines , which typically operate at a frequency of 100 to 5000 Hz. It is the first miniaturized cassette with an integrated tape display that is accurate to the minute and was raised to the standard in DIN 32750-T in 1983. Their dimensions are 65 mm × 45 mm × 9.3 mm. The Stenorette 2002 was the first stationary dictation system and the Stenorette SL the first mobile dictation system with the Steno-Cassette 30. Both products were in production for almost 20 years.

The steno-cassette 30 has a thicker tape than other dictation cassette systems. This reduces the formation of loops and tape tears. The capstan drive ensures a constant belt speed of 2.38 cm / s (+/- 5%). The maximum tape length for 30 minutes of recording or running time results from the tape thickness, tape speed and the dimensions of the cassette. The tape position can be seen on the minute scale. The dictation time to be edited can thus be read at any time. The one-sided playability of the cassette not only provides a better overview, but also avoids mixing up the pages or accidentally deleting them.

The cassette is produced by Grundig Business Systems in Bayreuth.
