Stenographers Association
Stenographers' associations are associations that are dedicated to shorthand. In addition to shorthand , fingertip typing and often courses on computers and EDP are also offered. With a few exceptions, the active German stenographers' associations teach the German unity abbreviation from 1968. Most of the associations in Germany are organized in the German Stenographers Association.
Stenography associations in Germany
There are currently around 100 stenographers' associations in Germany. However, since shorthand is no longer a general requirement for commercial, office management and office technical professions, the demand for shorthand courses has also declined sharply. Typing with ten fingers, however, is still in demand today. The stenographers' associations have therefore increasingly included computer and EDP courses in their teaching program. Overall, however, the numbers of German stenography associations are declining, so that the stenography associations are also affected by the "association deaths".
