Stensträng
As Stensträng ( German rock track , stone chain , duct tape or stone strand ) refers to findings of old, formed with natural stone paths, which in Sweden in Östergötland , on Öland , on Gotland and the southern Uppland , but also occur in other parts of Sweden. These are actually dilapidated stone fences or walls that were originally 80 to 90 cm high. In many cases, the crumbling walls weren't high enough on their own to function as a demarcation, but they were possibly the foundation for wooden fences. The walls were borders between pastures and fields, with cattle paths leading from the pastures outside to the farms. At least on Öland there are large areas that encompassed several farms and whose stem cord system has been completely preserved. It is likely that the origin was in the Roman Iron Age and Migration Period (0–550 AD), which coincided roughly with the Roman Empire and was applicable in Northern Europe .
