Stenstuen ( German  "Steinstube" , also Steenstien ) is a dolmen of the funnel cup culture (TBK) on Stavns Fjord , about 600 m southeast of the airfield on the island of Samsø in Denmark :

The island has many megalithic systems from the Neolithic Age that are around 5500 years old . When the dolmen was built; Samsø consisted of two islands. Then the land rose and created today's coast. Stenstuen was built on the north side of the South Island, and without dams the sea would cover the low-lying, adjacent area "Stavns Made", which is still at sea level despite the land elevation .

Stenstuen is a round dyssey with a narrow, rectangular chamber; which consists of four inwardly inclined bearing stones and the capstone. The access is unclear. Only one of the large stones stands on its smallest surface, so that the complex still had elements of the ancient dolmen . The carefully selected red end stone is made of granite . The burial mound has never been archaeologically examined.

Individual evidence

  1. Runddysse is the name commonly used in Denmark for dolmens that are located in a round hill. In contrast, dolmens lying in a rectangular barren bed are called Langdysser or Langdolmen
