Stephan Pálos

Stephan Pálos (also István Pálos; * 1922 in Hungary ) is a Hungarian doctor for traditional Chinese medicine , sinologist and Tibetologist .

Life

Pálos initially worked in his native Hungary , where he worked in the context of the "Alexander Csoma de Körös Institute for Buddhology" (Kőrösi Csoma Sándor Buddhológiai Intézet). He was accepted by Ernő Hetényi with the initiation name Sasanadhara in the order of Arya Maitreya Mandala founded by Lama Anagarika Govinda . In the sixties he moved to Germany, where he practiced in Munich, among other places, and spent a lot of time doing research in China and other countries in Asia. He was scientifically particularly concerned with respiratory therapy and pharmacology. In the 1970s Pálos lived as a Buddhist monk with the Tibetan religious name Tenzin Chöphel in the monastic Tibet Institute Rikon in Switzerland , where he worked on the translation of texts by the Tibetan philosopher Tsongkhapa .
