Stephan Procházka

Stephan Procházka (* 1962 in Dornbirn ) is an Austrian orientalist .

He studied linguistics, Arabic and Turkish studies . After receiving his doctorate in 1990 at the University of Vienna and his habilitation in 2002, he teaches there as a professor at the Institute for Oriental Studies. Since 2017 he has been a corresponding member of the national philosophical-historical class of the Austrian Academy of Sciences .

His research areas are Arabic dialectology, popular religiosity in Islam, everyday culture in the Arab world, Classical Arabic and the history of Arabic studies.
