Stephan Schmid is a Swiss philosopher .

Life

From 2003 to 2004 he was a research assistant at the chair for theoretical philosophy at the University of Basel . From 2004 to 2006 he was a student assistant at the chair for theoretical philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 2009 he became a research assistant at the chair for theoretical philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In autumn 2012 he was visiting scholar at the University of Toronto . In spring 2013 he was a visiting scholar at Yale University . In June 2015, he turned down the offer of Assistant Professor for Early Modern Philosophy at the University of Chicago . Since spring 2016 he has been teaching as professor for the history of philosophy at Hamburg University .
