Stephanos Deacon
Stephanos Diakonos ( Middle Greek Στέφανος ), was the author of a Vita of St. Stephen the Younger and deacon at Hagia Sophia . According to our own information, the origin of the text goes back to the year 806. Since the work advocates the veneration of images, it is only dated in the traditional form in more recent research to the time after the end of the iconoclasm , around the middle of the 9th century. However, it is possible that an original form of the text that was arguably less polemical dates back to 806. Other works and the author's life data are not known.
