Franz Tinnefeld

Franz Hermann Tinnefeld (born February 19, 1937 in Düsseldorf ) is a German Byzantinist .

In 1962, Tinnefeld began researching the ancient Latin tradition of Timothy I. The Latin text of Paul in the manuscripts DEFG and in the commentaries by Ambrosiaster and Pelagius at the University of Bonn . In 1971, with the work Categories of Imperial Criticism in Byzantine Historiography from Prokop to Niketas Choniates, his habilitation at the University of Munich for Byzantine Studies took place . In 1974 he became a university lecturer, and in 1986 he was appointed adjunct professor for Byzantine Studies at the University of Munich. In 2002 he retired.
