Stephen D. White

Stephen D. White (born April 16, 1945 ) is an American historian .

Stephen D. White graduated from Harvard University in 1965 . 1972 followed the Ph.D. at Harvard. in history with a study on Edward Coke . White was a tutor in history from 1968 to 1970 and a tutor in history and literature from 1970 to 1972 at Harvard College. From 1972 to 1975 he was a lecturer at Harvard University. From 1975 to 1980 White taught as an assistant professor of history, then from 1980 to 1985 as an associate professor of history, and from 1985 to 1989 as a professor of history at Wesleyan University . From 1982 to 1983 he was a visiting member at the Institute for Advanced Study . White has taught Medieval History as the Asa G. Candler Professor at Emory University since 1989 . In 1993/94 he was visiting professor at the University of St Andrews .

His main research interests are medieval France and Britain. He researched u. a. conflict management and settlement in high medieval France.
