Stephen P. Laurie is a British amateur astronomer and asteroid explorer.
Although he is an actuary , he found the time to discover a total of 50 asteroids between 1995 and 1997 . For his observations, he uses the Observatory of Church Stretton ( IAU code 966), in their environment he lives and works, and the Observatory of Ragdon ( IAU code J17)
He is also engaged in the search for comets and dwarf stars and is the discoverer of the supernova SN 1997bq in the spiral galaxy NGC 3147 .
