Stephen Williams (born October 11, 1966 in Abercynon , United Kingdom ) is a British politician with the Liberal Democrats party . From 2005 to 2015 he was a member of the House of Commons .

Life

Williams grew up in South Wales . He attended Mountain Ash Comprehensive School and studied history at the University of Bristol , where he graduated in 1988 . He then completed training in the tax consultancy sector and worked for companies such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and Grant Thornton .

Williams has been involved in politics since college. Williams won in the British general election, in 2005 the constituency Bristol West in Bristol . Since 1935, Williams has been the first liberal politician to win this constituency. He lost his seat in parliament in the general election in 2015 to Thangam Debbonaire from the Labor Party

Williams lives openly gay in Bristol.
