History of the court

The Stertschultenhof, a former Vorspannhof of the Meschede monastery, was first mentioned in 1310 and is one of the particularly old farms in the Sauerland. It used to be called Sterthof and the owner - after the family name Schulte - Stertschulte. The Stertschultenhof was a Vorspannhof on a road that led from the Sauerland to the Rhineland, was expanded in the 19th century as Minden-Koblenzer-Chaussee and is now part of the Bundesstraße 55 . Four harnessed horses were kept in front of them to help carts cope with the 2 km long ascent towards Elspe . Agriculture was also practiced. On the upper floor there was a dining room for travelers.

Around 1819 15 people lived on the farm. The farm belonged to the parish Eslohe and only came to Cobbenrode in 1898. Used agriculturally until 1995, it was then taken over and restored by the Cobbenrode home and development association. Since 2001 the building has served as a public meeting place, archive for the Low German dialect of the Sauerland Heimatbund and houses an exhibition area of the Homert Nature Park.

Deelentor of the half-timbered courtyard

The Low German hall house built in 1769 in Sauerland half-timbered construction has largely been preserved in its original state, it stands on floor-high quarry stone walls. In place of today's fireplace, the commercial hall originally ran through to the rear gable. The slope side component has a basement, the living rooms are above it. On the upper floor there is the room of the former dining room on the left. The building was extensively renovated from 1998 to 2001. After the farm was abandoned in 1995, a younger extension was demolished and the old building restored. It is a listed building.

The stately gable is richly decorated. Also worth seeing are the wall paintings, which are unique in the Sauerland and created using stencil and roller techniques.

The small outbuilding and the coach house were built in half-timbered at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.
