The Stetten barracks was a barracks on the Oberwiesenfeld in Munich's Schwabing district .

history

It was 1934 when upgrading in the era of National Socialism as motorcyclists built army barracks and after the Bavarian cavalry general Otto von Stetten named. In 1945 it was occupied by the US Army and renamed Indiana Depot . From 1955/56 it was used by the German armed forces (again under the name Stetten-Kaserne ) . In 1994 the Stetten barracks were given up by the German armed forces.

The site was included in the development area on Ackermannbogen and built on in the last of the four construction phases.

Holdover

Of the Stetten barracks, only the accommodation building, which was built in 1960, and the telecommunications building, which was also built in 1960, remain. After a renovation and modernization, the accommodation building is now a student hall of residence with 242 single rooms and 2 apartments. The telecommunications building is used by the training and further education channel M94.5 . Today the biotope at Ackermannbogen is located on the area of ​​the former helicopter landing pad .
