Steve McConnell

Steven "Steve" C. McConnell (* 1962 ) is an American author of software engineering books.

In 1998 McConnell was named one of the top three most influential people in the software industry , along with Bill Gates and Linus Torvalds .

Career

McConnell received his bachelor's degree from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington ( Magna cum laude , Phi Beta Kappa ) and his master’s degree in software engineering from Seattle University . He then worked as a software developer in the desktop area before becoming an author and consultant. McConnel is currently (March 2006) CEO and Chief Software Engineer of Construx Inc.

From 1998 to 2002 McConnell served as Editor in Chief of IEEE Software . He was also Chairman of the IEEE Computer Society Professional Practices Committee.
