Stewart Butterfield (2006)

Stewart Butterfield (* 1973 Canada ) is a Canadian entrepreneur and businessman. He founded the photo portal Flickr and the parent company Ludicorp with his wife Caterina Fake. In March 2005, Ludicorp, and with it Flickr, was acquired by Yahoo! bought up. In 2008 Butterfield and Fake left Yahoo. In 2013 he founded the team software Slack .

In 2005, he was listed in the list of Top 50 Leaders in the Entrepreneurship category and received a TR35 award as one of the best 35 innovative entrepreneurs under 35 (MIT's Technology Review). In 2006, he was named Time 100 of the Most Influential People in the World. In the same year he was featured on the cover of Newsweek magazine .

Butterfield graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in philosophy, followed by a Master of Philosophy from Cambridge University .

He lives in San Francisco, California and graduated from St. Michaels University School in Victoria in 1991 .
