The Steyr 50 tractor ( Steyr 50 a from 1968 with all-wheel drive) from the Steyr Plus series by Steyr Daimler Puch was built from 1967 to 1970.

In 1966, the existing anniversary series with an orange round engine hood was gradually replaced by the new Plus series, with the Steyr 50 of this series replacing the Steyr 290 of the anniversary series in 1967. The water-cooled diesel engine of the type WD 407 with four cylinders and 3.017 l displacement had an output of around 37 kW (50 HP). The transmission had eight forward gears and eight reverse gears, on request also up to 16 forward gears and 16 reverse gears. The maximum speed was given as 27 km / h.

The tractor was available as the Steyr 50 in the rear-wheel version and as the Steyr 50 a in an all-wheel version. A cabin was available on request. A total of 17,740 copies of the Steyr 50 and Steyr 650 were sold, and only 1,520 of the all-wheel-drive versions 50 a and 650 a.

The body was designed by the French industrial designer Louis Lucien Lepoix .

The action was replaced in 1971 by the Steyr 650 , which, in addition to the type designation, mainly differed in the slightly larger displacement of the engine and the relocation of the exhaust pipe upwards.
