The Rottenmann Abbey was a monastery of the Augustinian Canons in the town of Rottenmann in the Liezen district in Styria . The building is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The monastery was founded in 1453 by the Rottenmann citizen Wolfgang Diez and was founded by Emperor Friedrich III. approved and in 1455 occupied by Augustinian canons from St. Dorothea in Vienna. The monastery was located at the hospital church outside the city wall and moved to the city ​​parish church Rottenmann hl. Nikolaus, which was the convent church of the monastery until the abolition of the monastery in 1785.

Today the building serves as a parsonage and residential complex.

architecture

The monastery as a four-wing complex was repeatedly rebuilt. The oldest component from the end of the 15th century is the south wing with the connecting wing to the church (today the rectory). 1700 was a renovation. There are some stucco ceilings with foliage and banding around 1710/1720. The gate hall and the construction of two further wings of the complex took place in the second half of the 17th century and in 1750. The portal shows trophies and emblems.
