The Asia House Foundation is a non-profit foundation and forms a network of non-governmental organizations related to Asia . The Asia House Foundation was founded in 1992 under the name Asienstiftung in Essen and is now based in Cologne .
aims
According to the statutes, the foundation pursues the following goals:
- Promotion of education and information work,
- Promotion of scientific work on the countries and peoples of Asia and their relations with Europe, especially in German-speaking countries,
- Promotion of understanding and cooperation between civil societies in Asia and Europe.
history
The Asia Foundation was founded in 1992 by Günter Freudenberg and the member organizations Korea Association , the Philippines Office and the Southeast Asia Information Center. In 1995, the Asia Foundation and its member organizations founded the Asia House in Essen, which was to serve as a center for alternative activities related to Asia in Germany. The information and solidarity work of the initiatives involved should be strengthened and duplication avoided through closer cooperation.
In October 2012, the Asia House Foundation moved its headquarters to Cologne, the current headquarters of the Foundation. With the statutes of May 25, 2013, the Asia Foundation and the Asia House were transferred to the Asia House Foundation.
