Photo Documentation Foundation of the Canton of Lucerne

The Foundation for Photo Documentation Canton Lucerne (Fotodok) is based in Lucerne . The purpose of the foundation is to promote photography as a cultural asset .

Since it was founded in 1992, it has awarded documentary commissions to photographers, realized photographic publications, realized exhibitions and undertook public relations and advisory work. Other activities include the operation and expansion of the online photography lexicon in the canton of Lucerne, which aims to provide the most complete documentation possible of photographic work in the canton of Lucerne and, since 2015, central Switzerland with the help of data collection and research on people, holdings and bequests . It also supports cantons and municipalities in archiving and digitizing valuable documentary photographs.

The purpose of the foundation includes:

  • Survey of deceased and living photographers in Central Switzerland.
  • Maintenance of the online lexicon of photography in the canton of Lucerne fotodok.swiss
