The Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft (sdw) gGmbH , based in Berlin , was founded in 1994 and, as one of the largest educational institutions in the state, supports over 4,000 people nationwide. Under the motto “We create opportunities”, it is committed to providing educational opportunities for particularly high-performing students and doctoral candidates, schoolchildren and disadvantaged young people. Its aim is to support young people at the crucial points in the educational chain and to provide them with the best possible conditions for a successful educational and career path - regardless of their social background.

Alliances are other business-related foundations, companies, business associations, state institutions in the federal and state levels as well as a network of volunteer supporters.

The organization has been a non-profit company since 2012. The sole shareholder is the Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft bR. The sdw is mainly supported by entrepreneurs, companies, employers' associations, company-related foundations and state institutions in the federal and state levels. The entrepreneur Ingo Kramer has been chairman of the sdw board since 2010 .

  • In the Klaus Murmann study funding organization , the sdw supports high-performing and socially committed students and doctoral candidates from all fields and types of university. They receive grants from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and take part in a seminar program that is offered in cooperation with representatives from the sdw network. As a special program of the Klaus Murmann student funding agency, the preparatory college, in cooperation with the Robert Bosch Foundation, promotes student teachers with personality and leadership potential. The entrepreneurship start-up initiative of the Klaus Murmann student funding agency offers students the opportunity to gain practical entrepreneurial experience during their studies and to realize their own start-up ideas. The cooperation partner is the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation .
  • The Hans Weisser scholarship in the Foundation of German Business supports stays abroad for further education after graduation.
  • The Studienkompass , an initiative of the Accenture Foundation, the Deutsche Bank Foundation and the sdw, offers study and career guidance for prospective high school graduates from non-academic families and encourages them to take up an individually tailored course.
  • Show me what you've got! accompanies motivated pupils in the main school branch during the transition from school to vocational training or to a secondary school. The cooperation partner is the Drosos Foundation.
  • With the MINToring teacher training course , the Vector Foundation and the sdw motivate students interested in MINT subjects to take up a teaching degree in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology.
  • Vivo - education from scratch! in cooperation with the Wübben Foundation promotes the willingness and ability of elementary school students to learn in order to close gaps in knowledge and skills related to their origin and to enable them to pursue an educational path that is appropriate to their family background.
