Prize of the Democracy Foundation

The Foundation Prize of the Democracy Foundation serves to promote scientific projects that contribute to deepening democratic ideas. The foundation is based at the University of Cologne , but the award is aimed at all scientists.

The foundation award is endowed with 5000 € for dissertations and habilitation theses. The excellent work must deal with the topic of democracy in an innovative and excellent way.

The members of the Board of Trustees of the Democracy Foundation include Bernhard Kempen (President of the German University Association ), Klaus Hänsch ( Former President of the European Parliament), Annette Elisabeth Töller (Professor at the Fernuniversität Hagen) and Axel Freimuth (Rector of the University Cologne).

Award winners

The previous winners include the political scientists Armin Schäfer and Tom Mannewitz and the historian Hedwig Richter .
