Stobhall

Stobhall is a mansion near the Scottish town of Stanley in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . It stands on a rocky hill above the Tay .

history

Since 1345 at the latest, Stobhall was the headquarters of the Drummonds. With the completion of Drummond Castle around 1478, they moved it to the new castle. A chapel has probably been on the site since the 14th or 15th century. This was expanded to the Tower House Stobhall in 1578 . Various outbuildings were added over the centuries. In addition, the Tower House was expanded in 1781. This expansion was canceled in 1953.

As well as two sundials, the widow's house, the new library, the Folly and the bakery and brewery, Stobhall is classified as a monument of the highest Scottish monument category A.
