Stick (length measure)
The stick was a measure of length in peat farming. In the north German marshland and the peat mining areas, the measure generally corresponded to the local rod . There were exceptions in the regions of Lower Saxony. One example would be Osnabrück . Here the measure shrank to a local cubit . The measure was represented by a stick, often made of wood, in the appropriate length and used in practice for measuring.
