One of the main areas of activity of the substance examiner was the examination of raw materials and auxiliary materials with regard to their chemical composition. The values determined by physical-technical means were compared with the quality standards, possible deviations were determined. Furthermore, test samples and test reports of a production series had to be produced and evaluated on an ongoing basis. During the analysis he performed basic chemical procedures such as determining pH and determining density . For this purpose, the samples were crushed, sieved and the individual components weighed.
