Substance ban

A substance ban is usually a ban , a problematic, i. d. Usually to use environmentally harmful chemical substances for a specific purpose, for example in a material .

Substance bans generally apply irrespective of the obligation to declare (usually less than 0.1%) of chemical substances in materials . In addition, the detection limit of the substance and other general prohibitions for placing chemical substances on the market must be observed.

There are e.g. B. for heavy metals , poisons and carcinogenic substances.

In Switzerland, substance bans and restrictions are listed in the Chemical Risk Reduction Ordinance . In the EU, substances the manufacture, placing on the market or use of which are prohibited or restricted are listed in Annex XVII of the REACH regulation .
