The Stone Poneys were an American folk and country rock band. It was the first formation in which the singer Linda Ronstadt took part.

history

The singer Linda Ronstadt, who saw no chance of starting a musical career in her hometown Tucson , moved to Los Angeles in 1966 , where she met Robert Kimmel and Ken Edwards. The three formed a trio , got a record deal in 1967 and were able to reach number 13 on the US charts with the song Different Drum , written by Michael Nesmith .
