Stop child abuse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stop Child Abuse ( English for Stop Child Abuse ) is the name of a site , with Europol , the population in the investigation of cases, severe child abuse wants to include. The website publishes images of objects thatcan be seen in the backgroundin child pornography photos and videos. Europol hopes that the identification of the objects will provide clues that can be used to locate victims, crime scenes or perpetrators.

The website builds on experiences from a previous campaign called “Most Wanted”. There, 35 of 50 suspects presented online were identified, eleven of them through information from the general public. Europol calls the method crowd-knowledge-sourcing and also enables anonymous information via a form if one clicks on one of the photos. A first clue for the investigators would, for example, be an indication of the country from which an item could come. A case was resolved after a photo of a trampoline had been published and the investigators had received information about the country in which such trampolines were sold.
