Road cruiser (social magazine)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Der Straßenkreuzer - The social magazine is a street newspaper that appears eleven times a year in the greater Nuremberg area with a circulation of 12,000 to 18,000 copies. The social magazine is sold on the streets by the poor and homeless. The editorial concept is based on journalistic professionalism.

In each issue a key topic is taken up, which is illuminated from different perspectives. The content is created by well-known journalists and photographers in the greater area, mostly on a voluntary basis. Two pages are reserved for the “writing workshop”, and salespeople, warming room visitors and other citizens meet regularly in the editorial office to work on topics and write texts.

The magazine is sold for EUR 2.20, the sellers buy the magazines for 1.10 cents. The regular sale of the magazines should offer the sellers a professional perspective and enable them to re-enter social life. There are around 50 regular sellers in the greater Nuremberg, Fürth and Erlangen areas. People whose income is not above Hartz IV level receive a seller ID.

The road cruiser is independent. The magazine is financed through sales, advertisements and donations. The magazine is supported by the charitable association Straßenkreuzer eV
