Award ceremony 2010
In 2010, the SPD parliamentary group in the state parliament did not honor the outstanding achievements of an individual for the first time with the Wilhelm Hoegner Prize, but the commitment of the people who run the socially committed street magazines BISS (Munich), Donaustrudl (Regensburg), Riss (Augsburg) and street cruisers (Nuremberg ) release. “With the award we are also sending a political signal in the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion . Against social cuts. Against de-solidarization and for a fairer Bavaria. The winners are so-called street newspapers. They have committed themselves to the goal of supporting people in need, in social difficulties, people who live on the streets, ”said SPD parliamentary group leader Markus Rinderspacher at the ceremony in the Bavarian state parliament .
The makers of the homeless newspapers and the sellers were also invited. Markus Rinderspacher: “Poor and homeless people usually don't have a lobby. Street newspapers such as Biss, Riss, Donaustrudl and Straßenkreuzer take care of the excluded. They help those who are in need, give them a voice, make them heard and draw attention to a social problem in our affluent society that should not exist in developed civilizations. In the four street magazines, the homeless have important advocates and contact points. ”The laudator was the deputy SPD chairwoman and minister of social affairs in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Manuela Schwesig .
