Radiation source
A radiation source or radiation source is any natural or physical - technical point of origin of radiation . Sometimes one speaks of any object that generates radiation (e.g. a piece of radioactive material) as a radiation source. Depending on the type of radiation generated, one differentiates:
-
Particle source generates particle radiation
- Proton source generates specifically radiation from protons is
- Neutron source generates radiation specifically selected from neutrons is
- Radionuclides produce different types of ionizing radiation
- Electron source / electron gun generates electrons
- Sources of electromagnetic radiation :
- Light source generates electromagnetic radiation in the visible spectral range (from about 380 nm to 780 nm wavelength .)
- X-ray source generates electromagnetic radiation in the X-ray range (from about 10 nm to about 1 pm wavelength)
- Radio source is an astronomical object that emits electromagnetic radiation in the radio range (from about 10 centimeters to about 100 kilometers in wavelength).
