Jet powered airplane model

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A jet-powered airplane model is a form of a flight model that uses a jet engine as a drive in order to look as true to the original as possible.

drive

Various types of engines can be used as jet engines:

Today's drive trend is clearly in the direction of model jet turbines and electric impellers due to the development. Pulso jet engines are rather an exception due to the volume-related ban on almost all model airfields. Combustion impeller drives show enormous wear and tear on the drive motor (2-stroke glow igniter) and give way to model jet turbines. Electric impellers are becoming more and more popular thanks to today's performance of the relatively new lithium-ion polymer battery technology, combined with light and highly resilient brushless motors.

Model types

The following model types are used:

  • Prototypical jet models, e.g. B. Replicas of civil and military aircraft
  • Purpose models, e.g. B. Trainer models, speed models
